Skateboard bails……………..?
A friend sent me this video, he thought was funny. Not important that you watch it… I’m just curious why these idiots don’t wear helmets and pads and maybe even a cup?! I sure many of them have broken bones and some may have even died so umm… why take the risk… Tony Hawk one of the best skaters ever wears a damn helmet. And a lot of these kids seem to be attempting things that are above their level.
And what is up with my friend thinking this is funny… is this a US thing?

By that rationale I assume that construction workers shouldn’t wear helmets either, I suppose.

skateboarding is all about fluid movement and, honestly, grace. not the greatest example, but you dont see figure skaters wearing helmets and pads when its just as dangerous. the equipment is less comfortable to skate in and effects your skill.

The simple answer is because a lot of skateboarders find pads and a helmet restricting, wheras someone like Tony Hawk has the potential to fall a good twenty feet onto the floor if a trick should go wrong.
I personally only wear pads if I am skating something I am unfamiliar with or if there is a heightened risk involved.
It’s nothing about proving how tough you are and what your image is etc.

tony hawk skates vert he goes like 15 feet off the coping on almost everything he does its completely different than skating street and most people dont wear pads or helmets because they are uncomfortable not because of anything else the other guys are just trying to sound cool like "pads are for wussies" dont listen to them and as far as tony hawk goes guys he sucks at street but he does not suck i want to see any of you guys saying he sucks skate a fourth as good as him in a bowl or a mega ramp of actually on anything his style in street is bad and his tricks might not look the best but he has tricks and thats not even what he likes to skate and he can do it.So lets see where any of you go with skating and if you say rodney mullen is good your an idiot yeah sure hes amazing at flat ground and manuels but thats it lets see him skate a mini or like even like a 7 i dont think he can guys so stop talking shit you shouldnt try to take away from other people because they might not be your favorite.Skate cause you like it not for anything else.

its just funny to some ppl but idk why. its easier to skate vert with pads on because you dont do alot of technical knee bending flip tricks like on the ground. its hard to wear nee pads when your street skating because it affects how u land and you key joints arent very flexible.

Tony Hawk is good skateboarder, but is WAAAYYYY overrated. Also Tony Hawk is a vert skateboarder, while these kids skate street. Helmets and pads make it hard to ride, are uncomfortable, and look retarded.
And why take the risk? Skateboarding is a great sport and these kids are just committed to it. Next time don’t call people "idiots" without a complete understanding of whats going on.
